The Poly (formerly Plantronics) APA-24 Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) cable part # Poly 212539-01 or HP 85Q52AA communicates electronically with your desk phone giving your wireless headset call control. The APA-24 EHS allows ring alerts to sound in your headset as well as answer and end calls remotely.
This cable eliminates the need for a HL10 handset lifter. This cable works with Alcatel-Lucent desk phones and may work with additional manufacturers.
 
Poly has several EHS adapters, each being unique to a specific telephone and wireless product.

*Used headset port. Call control only no ring alert
Headset has to be enabled in the phone by going to Settings>set>plug into jack>headset on the phone. The headset checkbox on the main screen has to be unchecked
Phone then automatically detects headset when the cable is plugged into the 3.5mm receptacle and the screen shows the headset ICON
Note 1 = Phone and headset can go out of sync – answering headset will hang-up phone. User must answer and end from headset.
Note 2 = Special unit required – has bi-directional communications
